These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Aula platform, including our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using Aula, you agree to these Terms.
1. Definitions
- “Educator” means a teacher, instructional staff member, school administrator, or other authorized educational professional using Aula on behalf of a school or organization.
- “Student” means a learner accessing Aula under the direction of an Educator or school.
- “School” means a school, district, or educational organization using Aula.
- “User” means any individual accessing the Service, including Educators and Students.
2. Eligibility and Access
Aula is designed for educational use. Educators must be authorized by their School to use Aula. Students do not create independent accounts on Aula and access the Service only through educator-managed enrollment (e.g., join codes or credentials provided by a School).
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use the Service for unlawful purposes.
4. Student Data and Privacy
Aula does not sell student data and does not provide advertising to students. Details on how Aula processes information are described in the Privacy Policy.
5. AI-Powered Features
Aula includes AI-powered functionality for grading and feedback (including essay scoring), and for educator content generation (e.g., prompts and learning activities). Student submissions may be processed by AI systems and may include student-provided identifiers such as nicknames. Aula does not permit AI providers to use data to train their own models, consistent with provider terms. AI outputs are assistive and do not replace professional judgment.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Course data is retained while courses are active and deleted when courses are removed. Verified deletion requests are honored within 30 days, unless retention is required by law.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
School Agreements
If Aula enters into a written agreement with a School that conflicts with these Terms, the written agreement will control.
7. Changes
We may update these Terms periodically. Updates will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
